Essential Rituals & Timings

  • Bhasma Aarti: Performed daily at 4:00 AM. Online booking is mandatory weeks in advance via the official website.
  • Mahakal Lok Lighting: The corridor is best visited after sunset (6:30 PM onwards) when it is fully illuminated.
  • Shipra Aarti: Every evening at Ram Ghat at sunset (approx. 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM).

How to Reach

  • By Air: The nearest airport is Indore (IDR), about 55 km away. Cabs and buses are frequently available (1.5-hour drive).
  • By Train: Ujjain Junction (UJN) is well-connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
  • Local Transport: Auto-rickshaws and E-rickshaws are the most convenient. For a full-day tour, you can hire a private taxi for roughly ₹1,500–₹2,000.

Best Time to Visit

  • Winter (October to March): Ideal weather (10°C to 25°C).
  • Monsoon (July to September): Very spiritual; the “Mahakal Sawari” (procession) takes place on Mondays.
  • Summer (April to June): Can be very hot (40°C+); avoid if possible.
